I’m 58…. Was married for over 30 yrs…. Both of us in church ministry….. I was brought up in church…. He wasn’t. He came to the Lord b4 we married. There was emotional, verbal & sometimes physical abuse. Even while in ministry. He was a Pastor of counseling. Especially with couples. As much as I wanted us to go to counseling for ourselves, he felt he was too above that. It was my fault and bc of that, we had no hope. According to him. It became too much…. When our boys got older, they both sat me down & told me not to worry about having to make a choice in my marriage. I felt that was my sign & I did initiate the divorce. I wanted to work on it with intervention. I prayed so much and still do now bc despite all of that, I still feel connected but I’m afraid of being abused again. There are still signs when he’s too comfortable around me. I recently decided to distance myself & feel some peace…. But my heart is broken about this. He no longer serves God, falling back to alcohol which was a big problem. I hope God is understanding of my situation. I really never wanted this 😢, and despite all the hard years, I ask God to, STILL, do what He wills…. I will not be with anyone else. I ask God to work in me and most of all, in his heart. For total change in both of us 🙏

The reason that the apostle Paul speaks of marriage in Ephesians is, in the form of metaphor, a symbol of our personal union with Him. Our soul, body, and mind coming into unity with Him for eternity. Thats the real truth about marriage. Not everyone is called to be married. The scripture is clear, "all have their own gifts" Corinthians 7. Our eternal focus and aim should be our lifelong transfomation into who the Lord wills us to be and doing His will in our lives. Our Lord Jesus did not come so we could obsess about marriage. He is our life. From Him we get our life and because of Him alone we make it through this rough life. Put the Lord first and the marriage will make it, He will bless it! But what He died for was for you! You to be cleansed, you to be saved from this evil and deceitful world! You can have the most traditional marriage in all the ages, you can still fall right down into hell fire. What is spelt above that is the truth of the Gospel Marriage will not bring you through, only coming and following God with all your life will do that! Only He will bring you through!
